The New Edmonton Velodrome. A leap forward for Canadian Cycling

A new Velodrome in Canada! Yes it is real. After more than two decades of planning, Edmonton is finally home to one of the most advanced indoor cycling facilities in the country. The Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre is more than just Multi-sport center. Not only is it a velodrome; it's also a project that blends world-class sport with community recreation in an inclusive, forward-thinking way.

Nestled in the heart of Coronation Park, the Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre was built to create a welcoming space for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to come together, get active, and experience year-round access to their favorite sport.  It’s a space designed not only to support our top Canadian athletes as they chase new heights on the international stage, but also to inspire the next generation right here in our own community.

At the core of the facility stands proud a 250m indoor velodrome with spectator seating that brings fans right into the action. Surrounding it, the building opens into bright, inviting spaces where Edmontonians can walk, run, climb, train, or simply spend time together. Here is a list of the many activities and facilities available:

  • 250M Velodrome.
  • Fitness centre.
  • Walking/running track (333 metres on the outside lane).
  • Velodrome spectator seating for up to 940 people, including 264 permanent seats.
  • Bouldering wall.
  • Infield courts and an urban court.
  • Dedicated spin studio.
  • Multi-purpose rooms and studios.
  • Indoor play space.
  • Child minding space.
  • and more

This thoughtful mix turns the Coronation Park Centre into much more than a Velodrome, or a Multi-sport facility: it’s a full community hub that promotes health, movement, and connection.

Edmonton’s previous outdoor track limited training and competition to the summer months, having a 5th indoor track in Canada is just the best thing the cycling community could hope for.

Being the 5th indoor velodrome in Canada, this new facility is a dream come true for the cycling community and especially for riders from the Prairies and the West Coast. It’s a place where cyclists of all ages can train, grow, and take Canadian track cycling to the next level.

Get ready and gear up to train and compete in this amazing new Velodrome!
